Selbsseries | Discovering Melbourne with a toddler

Hey guys,

Many of you didn't know I took a short little break (so-not) and followed my husband to Melbourne as he had work. When he asked me to come, I was like, YES. But as soon as the packing started, I questioned myself and regretted a little. Coz travelling with a toddler and exploring the city on your own is really NOT a break.

My husband basically left for work really early and came back late so I practically had to handle Iman on my own.

Since Melbourne is quite a common destination, I'll share with you hidden gems I found in the city.

1) FOOD - Royal Stacks Burger! Best burger ever in town and its HALAL.

2) The walk from St Kilda beach to Brighton Beach (which took me 2 hours.) It was so cold but so worth it to see the stretch of pretty beach boxes. Check out the video of iman shivering like a leaf. lol. I didn't expect the beach area to be so windy and cold so we didn't bring her outers.

3) Melbourne Museum has an amazing childrens' gallery. Iman had such a great time she slept after exploring and I ran off to Target to do a bit of shopping lol. If you have a kid between 1 to 7, this is a must visit.

4) Glamping at a Cabin at Apollo Bay. Once my husband was off from work, we took a drive from Melbourne City to Great Ocean Drive. We're supposed to go see 12 Apostles but with a toddler the 4 hours drive was not possible. Thank god we booked a place through air bnb at Apollo bay, which was mid point. It was a lovely family friendly place where the locals would bring their bicycles, scooters, surf boards - a typical summer camp!

4) Air Bnb Experience - Marbling Art. On the last day when my hubby is done with work, I decided to sign up for a workshop - ME time. The host was nice enough to schedule a one to one session for me after office hours.

This is the traditional Ebru marbling art from Turkey, and its been around for many centuries. All the materials are natural and handmade. Mind blowing! It looks easy but you need to coordinate your speed, accuracy and flow.

This is the demo done by the instructor - Eda. She's such an expert!

I truly enjoyed the session and here are my attempts to do marbling art. Do check out her ig page to see Eda's amazing works.

And to you mummies who are taking your little ones on a holiday, my advice is take it easy, and enjoy each moment. If you can only visit 1 place a day, why not? Quality over quantity.

Love,

Selb
