#lullyslist | 2017 Resolutions

I met Selma for our weekly meeting yesterday and discussed about our plans for the upcoming year. The meeting was brief yet we both were able to throw good ideas  and we're excited for it! Albeit the busy year ahead, to keep me grounded, here are 3 of my new year resolutions!    1) Make more art! Be it good art or bad art, the process is very important for me; in terms of building my visual language. Make more art anyway! A conducive and quiet environment is needed for me to work on my creative juices. There are days when I dont't feel like going out just so I can take my time to produce prints for LullySelb.  Just...

#Selbseries | Styling #lullyselbessentials

Since I got my hands on these wardrobe staples, been wearing them every other day, just change bottoms and shawl. Also because I needed a break from the post-marble series ( although I know some of you still crazy in love with them ).  This first look was taken last week, where I was invited to LBKM networking session to share with the graduates on how I started my business. Theme was traditional batik, and obviously I didnt have any batik pieces, so took the chance to wear Lully Selb Eid Collection. It was originally paired with white peplum, but since this black peplum is the latest addition to our lullyselb essentials, I did the pink and black loo. (...

#lullyslist | 3 takeaways of 2016

December is here and the team is getting busier in the next few weeks. It has been an exciting journey with a fair share of tough times for the LS team. I decided to sit through the morning and reflect on 3 things I've learnt this year.   1. Managing expectations. Positivity is a choice. Emotions are triggered by perspectives. Every disappointment and sadness that I've felt, I tried to ponder on what made me felt that way. Then, I will think of what I can do to make myself feel better; doing dzhikir works everytime. As for the good memories, it goes into the happy jar which you can make your own. 2. Consistent effort. Practice what you study. Study what...

#Selbseries | City of Bikers

Sometime last month, team Lully Selb made a short trip to explore the city of bikers - Ho Chi Minh. 3 days research at the fabric market, accessories market, printing factories while squeezing some time to check out the city. Apart from looking at whats new at the markets, we specifically wanted to find cooling, crinkle free fabrics to kick start our essentials. With rows and rows of fabric shops and bikers all over, it was rather challenging to pick up what we like. Especially when it comes to colours!! See - even the shade of nude pink gave us a huge headache pinning down the right one! This was choosing our zipper tunic essential, have you check it out?...

#lullyslist | One's stripes

Stripes come in different thickness and one can never have enough striped tees.  While designing our Nautical Collection, I had a hard time coming out with stripes design that screams Lully Selb! Instead of making stripes digitally, I tried using basic drawing tool- the mighty blackest of black charcoal stick! Charcoal sticks or pencils come in a variety of blackness and they are either soft or hard to blend. There is even loose charcoal pigment available at art shops! Here are some teasers of my explorations in making Lully Selb's own stripes. Which one will we eventually use for the next collection? Take a guess!  -Lully
