#lullyslist | Terra Terra

It's been a while since we blogged! Today I'm sharing with you the inspiration behind Terra Terra print.  The history of Terrazzo goes a along way. In our Asian context, we always see them in charming dainty houses. Now, it's trending in tableware and interior designers incorporate them in commercial spaces.  Terrazzo sculptural platter by studio Mignone used to display Katherine Sabbath's cake.   Have you seen the new Love Bonito outlet at Funan?   So pretty right? It reminds me of painter Rene Magritte's artwork- Portrait of Stephy Langui  While looking around for inspiration, I chance upon Concrete Collaborative who manufactures their own concrete and terrazo in California an Vietnam. Here arep some pictures behind the scenes of how terrazzo are...

#selbsseries | 4 learning points on our 4th birthday

Salam Ladies,It’s the first day of Ramadhan, and I’m feeling so so drained. Weather was hot and I really couldn’t get much work done let alone try do some ibadah. I was supposed to write a blog last week about our HYPE Raya collective but time wasn’t kind to me. Post event, I was really burnt out till me and Huda even forgot that a few days ago we turned 4. Yes, 4 years of pure dedication, hard work, tears of joy and  frustration. Anyway, in today's post, I wanted to highlight the important events of 2017. The bulk of it was being pregnant, but I'm glad I managed to do quite a bit.  End Dec 2016 -  Early Jan 2017 - Our first Umrah together! This was taken on flight to Jeddah.  February - My first CNY celebration with my hubby's family! Didn't know that some old...

#Selbseries | How nautical theme has evolved

Before we even started on producing designs for nautical theme collection, we did some research and got even more inspired to work on this. So here’s a little throwback on how nautical theme became popularised.Did you know….1) It was Queen Victoria who inspired the nautical trend in the 18th century. She had a child’s sailor uniform made on board the royal yacht for her son Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. People were very influenced back then, so everyone at the countryside wanted their child to dress in a sailor uniform.

#Selbseries | CNY VS Hari Raya

I have always loved diversity, and so this year as a muslim I celebrated my first Chinese New Year with my husband’s family. His mom is chinese, ( dad is indian ) and because we all take halal food, his parents usually host the reunion dinner. I was all excited and dressed up making sure I’m all red and merry! When everyone arrived at my parents-in-law’s place, to my surprise, they were dressed pretty casual. I was probably the “red-dest”.
