#lullyslist | #my1959

Hey! I'm sure you have seen our recent shawl design on our Instagram feed and stories. It's a tribute to 60 years of our National State Crest, National Pledge and National Anthem. The team and I were so honoured to be part of #my1959. When briefed to create a design based on these symbols, we chose the National Anthem.  We have all sang the Majulah Singapura all our lives during school assembly but do we really relate every word of it to our lives now? The composer Zubir Said is stranger to none. I wanted to know more about this talented man and his thought process while composing our National Anthem. In excitement, I went to the nearest library from...

#lullyslist | Dream with LS : Sarah Teng

I'm back on the blog to share with you our thought process with 3 brand new artists for our second cycle of #DreamwithLS. Lully Selb believes in challenging the status quo and expressing our unique individuality. We are always proud to feature our collaborating artists as this campaign brings us closer to our local creative community; no matter what craft the artists specialise in. Through the exposure on our platform and our expertise, they are able to foresee the exciting possibilities of where their craft can go (like on a shawl for a start!) at zero risk as all production costs are absorbed by us. The artists get to earn royalty fees too! However, being a creative myself, it's important...

Selb and I had already planned ahead last year that we will be launching new products every quarter of 2019.  Just in time with our popular campaign #LSwithYou, we have two new artists, two printed shawls and printed coasters! We found quality absorbent coasters with great printing finishing which would make statement conversational piece when guests come over . Or gifting ideas for your friends who just got their new house. The first artist, Jie Wei worked with Selma during last year's BE Collective exhibition. They were inspired by the...

#LullysList | Dream with LS

Sometime three years ago, I remember vividly prior to donning the hijab; I wanted to design prints on shawls. It's an extension of expressing my art. I graduated with a Honors in Fine Arts. In school, I was trained in painting and I get to choose electives like Fine Art photography, tactile video making and printmaking. There are many forms of printmaking and my favourite got to be silkscreen printing. I love it so much that I wanted to changed my major but I couldn't. As I did more research, I learnt that it's possible and there are many designers who designs prints and make them into wearable pieces, upholstery, wallpaper etc. My love for Textile Printing grew even more....

#LullysList | 2018 Prints Recap

It's the last #lullyslist for the year and it's time to revisit the prints we produced this year! We started 2018 by announcing our biggest collaboration with designer Naforrer for Commonwealth Fashion Exchange by EcoAge. We designed an evening wear- our interpretation of the Modern Malay Woman. Selb and I had a great time painting on Eucalyptus silk. We also applied wax crackle technique. The lines from crackle wax effect was so lovely and satisfying to do that we made into a printed shawl. I enjoy trying new mediums and was so excited to know about water based spray cans. It’s almost similar to diluted acrylic paint and Chinese ink. The best part of the Inkflow shawl got to be the...
